VENETIAN DRINKING EXPERIENCE

The name River Mentana

The word River is used for river diamonds, which are outstanding, with perfect transparency, just like our gin. The alcohol content comes from Mentana, an ancient type of creamy, perfumed Italian wheat grown near the Venice lagoon from which it gains a definite saline note.

juniper single — botanical

The family recipe hails from the 1940s and is based on a mix of amazing aromas that merges the sweetly-acid taste of wild juniper from the hills on the left bank of the River Piave with the intense balsamic flavour of mountain juniper from the legendary forest whose trees were used for the oars of the Venetian fleet.

Venetian Dry Gin

‘River’ colour, exceptionally transparent, with a bouquet that includes all the nuances of wheat: scents of malt, freshly baked bread, toasted hazelnuts – and juniper – mixed small berries, herbs, mint and a strong fruity hint. The mouthfeel is full and lively, with hints of minerals and sea salt, white pepper and spices. The aftertaste is long, earthy and exciting. It is simply perfect for dry Martinis. When making Gin tonic choose a delicate tonic water with a slightly citrus flavour. Drunk neat in a cold glass, River Mentana Venetian gin reveals its unique combination of power and finesse.   0,7 litres 42% Vol

About us

Rime Craft Distillers represent the fifth generation of the Maschio dynasty, master distillers in the heart of the Venetian region for almost two centuries. The idea for ‘Venetian gin’ came from a recipe for single-botanical gin produced in the 1940s by Domenico Maschio, who employed his inimitable know-how to create an inimitable gin. River Mentana | Venetian Dry Gin came into being on the routes of the Venetian Serenissima Republic and is dedicated to Venice and its iconic beauty.

Mission

The mission of RCD is to produce monobotanical distilled gin, mixed to high quality standards and excellent tasted pure: gin to drink neat so that its integrity and aromatic persistence can be fully appreciated. A challenge, because the natural aroma of juniper is delicate and fragile and only the art of a great master distiller is able to keep the molecular balance lively and stable over time.
